History Theatre Project Workshop Performance on Saturday

History Theatre Project of New Mexico Statehood will present scenes from a new play set in Lincoln County during the Great Depression on Saturday, June 13, at 2:00 pm. The performance is co-sponsored by Woman’s Federated Club of Ruidoso, 116 S. Evergreen, where the event will take place. RRCA serves as fiscal sponsor for the group’s start-up grant. The play is set in 1940 and explores life at Camp Capitan, a residential work training program for indigent young women of the Southwest. Admission to the one-hour event is $1. Theatre artists involved in Saturday’s workshop performance include Hannah and Sandy Kashmar, Phillip Collins, Jessica Lookingbill, Kay Kuhlmann, Andrea Reed, Jayli Johnson, Kris Kuhlmann, and Bob Harrell. Primary research is by Polly Chavez. History Theatre Project is a Ruidoso-based non-profit organization leading creation of plays around the state and is one of 13 projects provided a grant by the Centennial Steering Committee to create programming for statehood celebration in 2012. The Woman’s Club building is just off Sudderth below Midtown, directly behind In-Ka-Hoots Antiques.
