| Sharon Adamy Sharon’s brightly colored pastels are of people, street and market scenes and landscapes. But people and their mannerisms are a particular fascination. Coming from a drawing background, Sharon is as equally fascinated with the layers of strokes used in each painting as she is in the image. She feels that strokes lend kinetic energy to each piece. Sharon does not blend the pastel with her fingers preferring to convey movement and form with stroke upon stroke of pastel. One reviewer described her work this way: “Sharon's paintings seem to be in motion -- albeit perhaps slow motion -- and you get the feeling that the motion you sense will continue after you turn your back and look away.” Originally from Wichita, Kansas Sharon has been a resident of
Alto for the past ten years. She attended Kansas State
University and is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of
New Mexico. Her work has received numerous awards from
competitions in Kansas, Illinois, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
Sharon is a diversified pastel artist, painting portraits as
well as landscapes. For the past several years some of her
paintings have been on display at the Albuquerque Museum, Alto
Lakes Country Club, and Josie’s Framery, in downtown Ruidoso. |
