I recently traded in my Seattle penthouse for a small ranch
in Capitan seeking sun, freedom and my inner guru. My work here
as a folk artist and laughter coach has taught me to engage the
unknown, delight in the surprising things that emerge from my
creative self and find inspiration everywhere. There is wisdom
within my whimsy. My paintings spring forth from unknown depths
of me bringing with them ideas to ponder and glimpses into the
great mysteries of the universe. Surprising myself through my
art is a great thrill. It is a journey to a place where I don’t
really know what I’m doing, but I have the faith to surrender
the paint brush or scissors to some essential spirit within me
who does. Through my folk art you get a glimpse at my inner
landscape. The resulting work is most often abstract mixed media
using tempera paints, varnish and a variety of papers for
collage. Sometimes paper mache sculptures will make their way to
the surface too, using a similar method and materials. I am self
taught and delight in all the things my art is teaching me.
