My name is Betty Day,

My family and I have lived in Ruidoso and Ruidoso Downs for 47 years.

I retired from the Ruidoso School District in 1996.  Working with the kids, I learned I had a talent for art that had gone undiscovered.  The school system assigned me as an art instructor during most of my time in the district.

I often learned along with the children, and even won a quality education award in 1990 for my work with the children in art.

After retirement, in 2003, I was introduced to gourd art.  Well, that was what I was looking for and didn't know it.

I love working with gourds.  I found my niche in the art community.
