Scott Shangraw started his love with wood in high school.
With an art background, but not feeling satisfied with the
chosen medians, he was lucky enough to find a teacher who saw
his potential with wood and groomed it. After graduating high
school, he made pieces here and there for 15 years, but decided
one day it was time to make woodworking a full time endeavor. He
has refined and molded this "God Given" talent to make the
incredible pieces that are showcased on
www.shangrilawoodworks.com, juried art shows and high end
galleries. Scott has also enhanced his craftsmanship, by
receiving formal training from famous furniture makers, Sam Maloof and David Marks. Together with his wife, Stephanie, who
also does relief and chip carving, as well as carved bowls and
turnings, they attend high end juried Art Shows to showcase and
sell their pieces. Scott and Stephanie receive most of their
inspiration, to create incredible works of art, from the
beautiful mountains of Ruidoso, NM, where they reside. They
strive for producing nothing but the best furniture, by taking
the extra steps to hand pick the wood used, taking the time to
make the best wood joinery, hand shaping pieces and putting
several coats of hand rubbed oils and waxes on each special
piece. They take pride in knowing their hard work and fine
craftsmanship, assures that the "heirloom" furniture they create
