About KAT ST.CARN
My young life began with an artistic trend early on, but I
expressed it in other media. I was another one of those souls
who wanted out of her hometown to see the world (though I
haven’t made it quite yet).
I have two amazing sons, Matthew and Dylan, whom I took with me
on my adventures. I first began traveling at the age of 22 when
the scenery of my hometown wasn’t enough for my camera. Off I
went with map in hand and the destination of Roswell in mind as
I began my journey.
I’ve called Roswell ‘home’ three different times since first
seeing the lights from Comanche Hill east of Roswell at the age
of 22. My mother lives here, as do many of my other relatives.
‘Home’ is spaced across the country between a small town in
South Carolina and Roswell. Either way, the artist in me ached
to see more of whatever was out there waiting to be caught on
camera.
As for today, my two sons are much of my inspiration, as is my
husband and number-one supporter of my art, Tom. I owe much of
what I accomplish to the three of them. They keep me grounded so
I can ‘fly’. I use any spare time I have continuing to develop
my art and working on new pieces when we aren’t remodeling a new
house we bought in the historic district. I constantly look for
photo ops because they are everywhere (if I don’t leave my
camera home!)
About the PHOTOGRAPHY
I’ve caught the scenery of New Mexico, Virginia, Washington,
California, South Carolina and the many states in between on
film, though I must admit that people still remain my favorite
subject. I enjoy taking a photograph or image and turning into
something totally different than that of what was caught on
camera. This is my art. This is my passion.
I worked as an editor of a newspaper a few years back and
realized how versatile Adobe Photoshop was for my digital
images. I learned some basics while there, and thus began my
current style of art. I’ve been developing it since.
So, what I do is called photo manipulation is some circles. I
call it Enhanced Imaging Art via Multi-Media Graphics. I use
several different software programs, including Adobe Photoshop
and Microsoft Publisher.
Most of my work is now done using a Sony Super Steady Shot with
a 12x optical zoom. I don’t use any other lens and no fancy
this-or-that. I’m a simple girl - a simple artist, but my art
can speak for itself. I enjoy creating beauty that speaks to me
and my hopes are that it speaks to others in a similar way. If
it can speak to your emotions and/or senses in some way, it has
done its job. |
