| My interest in art began long before I ever picked up a
brush for the first time. My husband and his mother were both
accomplished oil painters. After my husband's death, I found his
paints and, being very new to the area and knowing only a few
people, I decided to give it a whirl. In the process, I was fortunate enough to find a very talented teacher, and wonderful artist, Mrs. Lorene Caywood. Lorene is a marvelous instructor and I attribute the majority of any personal success to her patience, knowledge and unfailing perseverance as a teacher. As an added benefit to learning, her classes offer the opportunity to be in the midst of other artists...both novice and professional...who are both supportive and encouraging. New Mexico never fails to "enchant" the senses and, particularly in the art world, it's a treasure-trove of inspirational themes and scenes. One of my favorite art forms is Impressionism as I like the dual aspects of both freedom and discipline in the form. My work has been featured in several venues, the Lincoln County Fair, and many are in private collections. I usually have two paintings going at once as this helps me to "step back" from one while still being productive on another. ceruphin@windstream.net |
